Trayvon Martin and Food Justice and Sovereignty

The killing of Black youth, Trayvon Martin in Florida and the subsequent exoneration of his assassin, vigilante George Zimmerman is common in the US. The Malcolm X Grassroots Movement,  has documented such a killing by police, security guards and vigilantes in the US every 28 hours in the year 2012 alone for a total of over 300 such killings.  operationghettostorm.org

Social peace is a prerequisite to food justice and food sovereignty; there can be no food justice and food sovereignty if the people are afraid for their lives and their mental and physical integrity to walk out into their communities.
