Cuba's Sustainable Agriculture/Agroecology Movement is a Thin Green Line between Cuba and the Total Food and Health Crisis of its Close Neighbor, the Bahamas.
Charlotte Gerson, 80 years strong, of the Gerson Institue for Healing Diseases below, discusses how critical. sustainable agriculture, agroecology, is to human nutrtion, health and longevity. The many nutriments in real soil alone are critical to our health, she says. The "processed" soil in which we today grow our food, like the processed food itself, is "nutrionless" and deadly, i.e., the cause of many diseases with which humanity has been inflicted since industrialized agriculture arose. Today, says famed American food activist Michael Pollen, we eat "fod-like" products which are making us ill and killing us prematurely.
Diabetes, heart disease, many cancers, and many more "modern" human diseases can all be clearly attributed to the modern diet of processed food which begins with "the processed soil."
These disease are on the rise in Cuba but fortunately still not at the enormous levels in the Bahammas which depends wholly on imported processed food-like products. Obesity, diabetes, heart diseases, many cancers are totally subjugating the Bahamain population. Cuba's sustainable agriculture movement is a thin green line between Cuba and the total food and health disaster of the Bahamas.
