    Garden Hack for the Garden Haters
    • Cedar wood at the base of your garden bed will help detour caterpillars and beetles

    • For aphids, mix 1 tablespoon of Castile soap in 1 quart of water, or 5 tablespoons in 1 gallon of water for a larger batch


     
    "Keep it Fresh Way Peach Banana Sorbet"
    If you haven't tried my signature peach banana sorbet, it's no coincidence you are sitting there reading this now.
    What I love about peaches- locally grown where I live and they are delicious. Eating foods that are native to your surroundings. In addition to the nutritional quantity, there is a deeper energetic conversation happening in the body when you eat plants that don't have to travel twice around the planet.
    More on that another time. We are in a peach state, and I'm not talking Georgia... Colorado. Yeah, we grow good organic mountain peaches here in the fresh air. Make this creamy vegan peach sorbet with a recipe I adapted from the Making Thyme for my Heatlh blog.  
    Ingredients:
    • 5 medium-size ripe peaches (approx. 4 cups)
    • 2 tablespoons maple syrup* or 3 medjool dates
    • 1/2 banana
    • 1/4-1/2 cup cashew milk
    • 2 teaspoons lemon zest
    • 2 tsp. vanilla 
    Remove the pits from the peaches (maybe save one and plant it) and then roughly dice into 1” cubes. Transfer them to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 6 hours or overnight. Yes, good things come in time. Patience, young Jedi. 

    Remove the frozen peaches from the freezer and transfer to a food processor or high powered blender (recommended for an extra creamy version). Let them defrost for about 10 minutes. Add your precious maple or delicious dates, 1/4 cup cashew milk (fresh if you can make your own) and lemon zest to the processor as well then blend until smooth. Blend on the highest setting if using your ultra high-powered blender. If you need more cashew milk, add a bit more accordingly. You don't want it to be runny. 

    Once your mixture is all smooth like my husband's voice when he sings to me, you'll want to put it in a freezer-safe container.  Seal the container and place in the freezer for at least 4 hours.

    Side note: When I say maple, I mean 100% REAL maple. Miss me with that high-fructose corn syrup we all had growing up. Real maple is packed with a ton of antioxidants and high in minerals.
