neighbor, Ubaldo, who has known her he likes to stay all his life! People in Cuba have been living together without moving much at all since 1958, about three generations. And people in Cuba live in families of three generations unlike the nuclear families you find here in the USA mostly. 

1958 was the year of the Cuban revolution from a US backed Cuban government that had become brutal and corrupt, leaving the bodies of murdered people in the streets of La Habana. Earlier, Cuba had fought a war against Spain, their colonial occupier with the support of the USA for their independence. The Spanish were brutal, incarcerating Cuban people in concentration camps in rural Cuba where so many Cuban people died of hunger. Tragedies that still dominate the minds and hearts of the people of Cuba. 

The USA government led by Theodore Roosevelt, helped free the Cuban people from Spanish rule but then themselves replaced the Spanish and as described above brutality against the Cuban people continued. 

In 1958, now famous, Che Guevara and Fidel Castro led a successful rebellion against their USA occupiers and the Cuban elite who supported them. Such a revolt was perhaps unstoppable given the horrendous conditions to which the US and its Cuban allies were subjecting the Cuban people. I also like to compare Cuba's war against its brutal US backed government to our own USA war against the British colonial rulers.
