About this event
Overview
The 2022 International Black Youth Food Sovereignty
Forum will be a one-day virtual event that features
presentations by Black food sovereignty experts
and youth delegates from Canada, U.S., Jamaica,
Trinidad and Ghana, to highlight the role of African-
Caribbean-Black (ACB) youth in the food
sovereignty movement. The Forum will
also feature breakout sessions for discussions
and networking around specific topics. We hope
the forum will help to plant seeds for a broader
youth-led Black food sovereignty movement.
This event is a partnership between the Afri-Can
FoodBasket, X University's (name change in process)
Centre for Studies in Food Security and School of Child
and Youth Care, Village Academy, and Black Youth
Farming Collective.
Forum Objectives
To raise consciousness among students, faculty, and communities about the meaning of Black food sovereignty across multiple geographic contexts
To engage ACB youth in the co-creation of infrastructure for ongoing capacity-building and innovation in Black food sovereignty.
